The number of newly-recorded deaths linked to Covid-19 in England and Wales has fallen to its lowest level for 7 weeks according to the Office for National Statistics.
But on a separate measure of excess deaths from March to May across the UK, there were almost 62,000 more deaths than might have been expected compared to previous years.
The elderly have suffered most from the pandemic and care homes have been particularly affected. One care home in County Durham has lost 25 residents from the disease.
Meanwhile a report by Public Health England has found that although age is the biggest risk factor when it comes to Covid-19, black, Asian and other ethnic minority communities in the UK are more likely than others to die from the disease.
Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting from Michael Buchanan and Rianna Croxford.

. These controllers have always hated our darker skinned family. They have created the perfect weapon. Most of the money created for this pandemic has been given to the elites. Over 4 trillion went to the American billionaires. Whilst the people only got 2 trillion. We keep letting these satanic scum take our money.

And now all the right-wingers are having to pretend that the concept of ‘excess deaths’ is totally baffling to them, and thus not real.

The care homes are privately owned, and they have more than enough money from their residents, so question what did they do??? Also of course the NHS would have been prioritised, as it is a pandemic. I just wish that they would look for solutions as opposed to political motivations. The loss of life is always sad and to that my heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones! BBC report the news not your own slant.
