Victorian Shadow Police Minister David Southwick says Premier Daniel Andrews is behaving like judge and jury amidst the ongoing coronavirus crisis in the state.
“The premier needs to step back because unfortunately no one is listening,” Mr Southwick told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
Victoria has seen its darkest day since the COVID-19 pandemic began after recording 19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Premier Daniel Andrews also announced there were an additional 322 cases.
Mr Southwick criticized the premier’s announcements and messaging, claiming his lack of clarity caused many Victorians to flout restrictions.
“This premier has just led us into a mess,” he said.
“We keep hearing from him mixed confused messages.
“The premier is being the judge and the jury at the moment and that is not the way to operate. The premier needs to step back let the chief health officer start to roll out what we can and can’t do.”
