As over 90,000 Americans have died due to COVID-19, Pres. Trump is breaking the bipartisan custom of consoling the nation. That approach is a contrast to several Presidents, including Pres. Obama, who emphasized consoling victims, sharing his own emotion, and leading prayers during tragedies ranging from mass shootings to updating the nation on the swine flu pandemic. MSNBC Anchor Ari Melber features recent historical footage and a “side by side” contrast of both President’s statements about infectious disease outbreaks (swine flu and coronavirus). This is an excerpt from a longer segment comparing Trump to several Presidents in both parties. (This interview is from MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber, a news show covering politics, law and culture airing nightly at 6pm ET on MSNBC. ). Aired on 5/19/2020.

I am not a fan of Trump–frankly, I am comfortable saying he will go down–before my death–as the worst President in the history of this country…however, if you’re still reading this, we need to mention how MSNBC was such an enemy of GWB, but now, when it is convenient to them, they use him to highlight their agenda. They were in love with Obama, but present him first, in an effort to show how much equanimity they are showing when they go after Trump.
They’re no better than Fox News doing their best to bury any critique of the current Commander-in-Chief, and if you think whoever gets elected is the problem with America, you’re actually part of the problem.

To all those families and communities who have lost people to the virus and for those first responders who have seen more in 3 months than they probably have in their whole careers. ☀️🌈

What the heck does a school shooting have anything to do with a worldwide pandemic?!?! The opening clip to compare those two things makes NO SENSE BUT it helps these people portray what they want lmaooo

Stop attacking the President! Covid is hurting the entire planet, and is not one’s person’s fault. Everything around is bad, and we don’t need to make it any worse! Obama is history, had his time. It is a different time and place, growth up!

Baloney. It’s unprecedented in history as in no different than Trumps’ impeachment etc was. If your going to report at least be somewhat neutral in your narrative. More left wing reporting that is as empty as the affect their attempting to create. Any unnecessary death is heart breaking, especially for friends and family. This contrast is not helping the reality of what was and is now. Do some real reporting or are running out of relative news initiatives at MSNBC. Trump vs Obama vs Bush really. The focus should be on Americans, indeed all over the world hurting, scared and many alone therein.
